DEWA-The Game

DEWA - The Game

I along with a few friends worked on making this game in my third year of undergrad.  DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority) was hosting a game development competition for mobile platforms.  We made the game for Android's Playstore, and overall we won the 2nd prize in the competition (Read more about the competititon here).

About The Game

I made the game using the Corona Simulator and the code itself was written completely in Lua.  The main reason I decided to go with the corona sdk over some other generally used engines like Unity was the ability to code the game from scratch with minimum help of editors and other tools,  this was more about the experience to write effective code than simply placing objects and images in a given space.  Working on this game gave me some much needed experience working with a set 2D space (and helped the transition to 3D space during my masters much easier).

Essentially the game comprised of four mini games, each of which uniquely highlighted various ways to conserve energy, water and help the environment.  This next image shows the navigation page to select any of the four games.

The game is now available for free download on the Google Play Store.  Its is now the property of DEWA.
